Critical information for Seniors from the State of Tennessee

Sent: Tuesday, November 20, 2018 3:47 PM Subject: "Keeping Tennessee Seniors Safe", Tennessee Attorney General scams brochures

Dear Tennessee Senior Center Directors:

I am writing on behalf of attorney Ann Mikkelsen of the Consumer Protection and Advocate Division of the Tennessee Attorney General's Office. This office has produced several brochures about scams that target older adults, and we are hoping that you can help us distribute this information to your seniors. The brochures cover six topics: phone and internet scams, door to door scams, healthcare scams, investment scams, mortgage scams, and end of life scams. The brochures contain good tips and information as well as contacts for state and federal resources. They are available in English and Spanish. A link to our Consumer Protection webpage, where copies of the brochures are available for viewing and download, can be found here:
https://www.tn.gov/attorneygeneral/working-for-tennessee/consumer-information.html.
We hope your organizations will consider adding this link to your online lists of resources for older adults. If you are interested, we would also be glad to send you printed copies of the brochures to distribute. Quantities are limited, so please specify the number you anticipate being able to use. In addition, we do presentations on common scams and may be able to plan a visit to your Senior Center. If you are interested in copies of the brochures or arranging for a presentation, please let me know. Our Office looks forward to distributing this information across Tennessee and appreciates your assistance.

Sincerely, Erin Roland, Legal Secretary On Behalf of Ann Mikkelsen, Attorney Consumer Protection and Advocate Division Office of Tennessee Attorney General UBS Building, 20th Floor 315 Deaderick Street, Nashville, Tennessee 37243 Mailing Address: P.O.
